Signing the Konsumer extension in
The Konsumer extension needs your Kariant account to attribute cashback. You can sign in inside the extension, or connect it in one click from the extension page — which hands your session over on a direct, private browser channel rather than anywhere a script on the page could read it.
Connect from the weblink
- 1Install the extension and reload konsumer.shop (or kariant.app).
- 2Open the Konsumer extension page while signed in to your Kariant account.
- 3Click "Sign extension in with this account". The button confirms when the extension is signed in.
What a connect error meanslink
- check_circle"Extension not detected" — the extension is not installed, is disabled, or the page loaded before it did. Enable it and reload.
- check_circle"Your installed extension predates the secure handoff" — you are on an older build. Download the current zip, reload the extension in your browser, then reload the page.
- check_circle"Chrome could not deliver the handoff" — the browser could not reach the extension. Check it is enabled at chrome://extensions and reload.
- check_circle"The extension rejected this page origin" — connect from konsumer.shop or kariant.app; the extension accepts handoffs from those origins only.
- check_circle"Secure connect is not available in this build" — one-click connect from the web is switched off until the extension is published, because your session is handed only to an extension whose identity can be verified in advance. Sign in inside the extension with your email and password; cashback tracking works exactly the same. Reloading or reinstalling will not change it.
Letting the overlay run on shopping siteslink
On a fresh install, Konsumer runs on konsumer.shop and kariant.app only. The cashback overlay does not appear on merchant sites until you turn on Site access in the extension popup under Settings — it is a standard browser permission, so you can revoke it at any time from chrome://extensions and the overlay stops immediately.
Without that grant you can still use the popup on the tab you are looking at: open Konsumer on a merchant page and activate cashback from there.
If Google sign-in inside the extension failslink
Each Kariant extension needs its own Google OAuth client registered against its extension ID, and that registration is still being completed. The extension now names the exact client and extension ID that were rejected instead of showing a generic error. Sign in with your email and password, or connect from the extension page, until it is finished.
Frequently asked questions
Is my login token exposed to other extensions?expand_more
No. The handoff is delivered straight to the Konsumer extension over a private browser channel — it is not broadcast on the page, and the extension it is delivered to must be one Kariant has verified in advance, so another extension cannot present itself as Konsumer to receive it.
Why does the cashback overlay not appear on merchant sites?expand_more
Most often the Site access permission has not been turned on yet: open the Konsumer popup, go to Settings and enable Site access. Konsumer never runs on the sites you visit until you allow it. If the grant is on, check you are signed in and that the merchant is one of the supported programs.
